Subject Grade

ENGLISH A1 EE C
ENGLISH A1 HL 6
NORWEGIAN A1 HL 6
HIST.EUROPE HL 7
BIOLOGY SL 6
MATH.STUDIES SL 6
VISUAL ARTS OPTION A SL 6
THEORY KNOWL. TK A

EE/TOK Points: +2
Total points: 39
Result: Bilingual diploma awarded

Quick explanation: 7 is the highest grade, 4 and up is a pass, A-E are the marks you can get for your EE (Extended Essay) and ToK (Theory of Knowledge essay) for extra points. The complete point total you can get is therefore 45 points, but next to no one does. In short, these are pretty good marks.

And with that, I can finally give a great big FUCK YOU AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH to the IBO.

Tobias [info]treskonebb couldn't get in for ages so he finally gave up. I only just got in for him, and now I can't log in to my own account to make sure I wasn't hallucinating when I saw my grades.

Oh, and my art teacher texted me this morning to congratulate me on my 6, when I wasn't supposed to know until this afternoon. Lolz.

My art exam was today, which means every single aspect of art as an IB subject = DONE.

We were at school for 12 hours yesterday, getting everything ready and then having parents and friends and teachers come for our exhibit. It helped to talk about everything with them first, although this morning I was pretty nervous since I was first and had no idea what to expect.

The examiner was the sweetest woman ever, though. There were no awkward silences, I got to say just about everything I wanted and she really liked my art, I think. She asked if I had any plans to study art at UofT (she approved of Toronto because her son was there) and when I said I probably would, she said "I think that's a good idea. A very good idea."

:D

I have almost three weeks now to just focus on revising for the rest of my exams. And the weather is gorgeous.

...of studying, that is. I'm up to my neck in statesmen and treaties and wartime policies and so, so far behind it's ridiculous. I keep getting distracted. D:

Anyway, a little update:
  • I've changed my mind about unis - I'm going to UofT, not York. I mainly started considering it as York was taking ages to even find Una [info]choco_tuna's grades, and I eventually decided it's more practical and that the courses they're suddenly offering aren't too bad (seriously, if they had been offering this graphic novel class the last time I checked, do you think I would have even considered York? XD). So we've applied for residence and accepted our offers and everything (Una and I, that is, not me and myself).

  • Spent the beginning of the easter vacation in Oxford, at the university, taking a revision course in Biology. I hadn't actually expected much from it and figured the "testimonials" on the brochures were fake, but our teacher? Was THE BEST TEACHER EVER. I never thought it would be possible to like Biology. Surprise! I owe him my firstborn, srsly. After the course Una [info]choco_tuna, Tobias [info]treskonebb and I went to London for a few days, stayed with my mum's awesome cousin and shopped ourselves to death in Camden. I GOT BOOTS. WITH HIGH HEELS. THAT FIT. :D

  • The latter half of the vacation has been spent trying to study and going for a night to a cottage in the mountains, mostly. And I spent yesterday evening eating Veronika [info]jolona's amazing food.

That's about everything I have time to remember now, so yes. Much ♥ to all of you.

P.S. Just a month and a week till I'm DONE ohgod.

Dear f-list,

I've now been on hiatus since December, and I was hoping to start, y'know, actually participating in life again once all my written work was handed in. Now, though, (here comes the apology bit) I don't think I'm going to really be online until after exams.

I'm struggling in most of my subjects; not enough that I won't manage, I'll be fine, but I'm going to have to study. A lot. My lack of prioritising skills have come back to bite me in the arse, so now I'm going to do something about it.

Mock exams are this week and the next, and my first real exam (art, which I in no way am ready for) is in five weeks. My very last exam is May 16th. So until then, I won't be around much will be around even less.

I still love & miss you guys like crazy, of course.

♥,
Captain Obvious Linn

I'm still very much on hiatus (I have masses of maths, biology and art to do) but I miss everyone. :(

So! How are you all doing? What's happening in your lives?

A few things in mine:
  • Applied for a job for the first time - a comic shop near where I live. I probably won't get it since I have zero work experience, but it was pretty exciting anyway. :3
  • Had an amazing time in the Hague. It was definitely worth all the extra work I have to do now.
  • Have become totally addicted to Facebook, and subsequently had to go on hiatus there, too.
  • Got extremely excited about the 7th HP book coming out in July, but that's all old news now.

♥!

...YESSSSSSS. :D

Translation: I'm having my formal oral in 48 hours (15% of my English grade), and the topics have just been narrowed down from four to two. This means I can COMPLETELY FORGET Austen's Mansfield Park and The Merchant of Venice.

Tuesday
I just fetched the mail, and there was a card from Gina [info]__hibiscus along with a print of this drawing. \o/ ♥

On that note, I (probably not surprisingly) am failing hard at Christmas cards this year. I have no idea where I got the energy to send out 40+ cards last year, and I wish it would come back. Some of you will be getting cards around New Year's, hopefully, but on the whole please don't expect much!

I spent 9 AM till 1 AM this Saturday plus a few hours on Sunday revising for today's biology exam. I haven't passed on a single test in biology since I started IB, so it would be kind of cool to get a passing grade at Christmas. He'll probably post the grades online tonight. *crosses fingers*

We got our Christmas tree at the family farm on Sunday, and we'll be decorating it this week. Tomorrow will be spent baking my brains out with Caroline [info]leka_moya and Linn [info]linnpuzzle. :D V. excited about that. Most of the things I'll be making are from the Barmy Baker blog, which is totally worth looking at if only for the photographs of the stuff she makes. *drool*

So, essentially:

1. Yay cards
2. Augh busy
3. Augh biology
4. Yay baking
5. Give me holidays already plz

Much ♥.

EDIT: One more thing! Since launching on Monday, the Good Omens Lexicon site has had over 700 visitors omgwtf. :O

Here's a really cool project: Heart of the World, a new multi-disciplinary arts facility in a theatre from 1910 in Vancouver. You'll have to keep an eye out for it, Julie [info]riddled. 8)

The Good Omens Lexicon is launching on Monday, even if it means staying up till midnight most nights this weekend to finish the site. (Help with just about anything is still very, very welcome over at [info]go_lexicon. I am not above granting favours.)

Caroline [info]leka_moya and I have yet to organise our giant Prestatyn-trip-picture-post, so for now I'll just leave you with one of the weekend's best quotes:

Everyone: *is watching Velvet Goldmine*
Arthur (on screen): You're Curt Wild.
Curt (on screen): Who the hell are you?
Alison: Batman.

Arthur = Christian Bale = Batman in Batman Begins. XD

In other school-related news that most of you are probably sick of hearing:

NO MORE CAS SHEETS
NO LOG BOOKS
NO MORE CAS COORDINATOR'S DIRTY LOOKS

:D! I was writing AEFs and status sheets and my reflective essay (basically, "How CAS Has Made Me a Better Human Being") for four hours yesterday, and now I'm done. It feels amazing.

These next couple weeks leading up to Christmas are going to be apeshit. But there's a good bit to it: all this work I have to do now? Means I'll basically just have exams to revise for after Christmas hols.

I wish someone would answer this support request. >_< I slept over at Tobias [info]treskonebb's* yesterday, so I didn't check my mail for about 48 hours, and this morning I had 106 spam e-mails. Most of them were addressed to cloudonmytongue@livejournal.com (though I also get everything addressed to under[whatever]@gmail.com, nevermind if it's underthewave or underfire or something that is NOT EVEN MY E-MAIL).

Crazy busy the next six weekends or so. I have some time during weekdays, but none on weekends. Sort of related to that, here's the movies I'm seeing at the Oslo International Film festival:

Brothers of the Head 17/11 @ 7:00 PM
Pan's Labyrinth 17/11 @ 9:00 PM
Nana 19/11 @ 6:30 PM
Shortbus 22/11 @ 9:00 PM
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer 25/11 @ 8:45 PM

I really, really don't have time for all these. Especially not Perfume - that weekend is insanely packed and I'm seeing it anyway. *wince* Tickets are bought and paid for, though, so there's no going back now. I'll just have to be super effective during the days I'm not doing anything (HAHAHAHA my faith in myself is hilarious).

*Yes it was the first time I've slept over. I'm still intimidated by his family, having met them only once before, but it was good. They'd bought a new army cot for me to sleep on (his bed is teeny) and it was so comfortable. I dreamt the sort of long, crazy-ass dreams I tend to dream when sleeping well. (A 19-year old & flirty Wilson from House was at our school for an MUN conference. Stfu, he's hot. 8D) We'd watched House before going to bed. And the launched-yesterday AL JAZEERA INTERNATIONAL, zomg.

Also ASAP next week:
Norwegian mock orals
Write SANMUN chair's report
Book tickets for the Oslo film festival
Get money back for Babyshambles tickets
Stay sane

A * means I've barely started or haven't even looked at it yet.

I dropped out of NaNo, btw. Surprise. If I go for it next year I'll just try 50,000 new words on it (it's about 13K now, I think). Expect to hear from me even less this month. :3

On a better note:

"Remember, my children!" Seamus called, throwing his voice like his Gram, the Old Dragon, had trained him. "Just like bacon, God loves the gay!"

Know what those sentences mean? The Double Cross is back. And lo, it is good.

DC = the first fanfic and the first slash I read. It ended one chapter away from the end of the story, but now (several years later) some of the original writers have started it up again. The prologue's going up sometime this month, That bit up there is from the preview that went out on the mailing list.

06 November 2006 @ 03:40 pm
Over the past week, I have:

  • Handed in my Extended Essay.

  • Gone out for dinner with Tobias [info]treskonebb. Felt v. grown up.

  • Had two American girls from Germany staying in my house (picked them up at 11:30 PM on Thursday, and drove them to the airport bus at 5:30 AM this morning) for the MUN conference. One of them was originally from Michigan and reminded me of Leeann [info]leeann_marie. ♥ They were very sweet and awesome to talk to, and everything I thought homestays weren't (i.e. a lot of fun to have around).

  • Chaired said MUN conference Saturday and Sunday.

  • Violently denied my sore throat, cough, stuffy nose and fever since last Wednesday due to having to go to school. Finally got to crash and stay home today.

  • Missed so many birthdays it's ridiculous.

  • Had tickets to a Babyshambles show that was cancelled. D: Well, "postponed", really - they're supposed to be here November 29th. We'll see. That's the night before I leave for Wales and B [info]thieving_gypsy's Christmas party with Caroline [info]leka_moya, so if he does show up I probably won't be able to go anyway.

  • Not written a single word on the NaNo novel this weekend, and then written 3118 words in 60 minutes today (still working on it!).

  • Not done much homework. Must remedy this during the couple days I am sick.

  • Applied to THIMUN 2007. 3IBers (last year of high school) aren't actually allowed to go, but my teachers want me to and think I can manage, so there you go. Hopefully I'll be in the Hague again at the end of next January, for "a week of wearing a suit and pretending to be intelligent and drinking legal alcohol and dancing like mad every single night" (last year's post-THIMUN post).

  • Missed an LJ outage, apparently?

Still not reading the f-list, though I really need to reply to e-mails and comments soon.

How are all of you? :x

Babyshambles tickets = confirmed. That we'll actually see them = not confirmed until we do!

The best doughnuts ever, bought handmade from a trailer in Sandvika. I inhaled four of them in ten minutes, gave one to Knut Eirik (who had shaved his head and was on his way to work at an after-school program) and one to my little brother. We bought a bag of them on our way to school after the Goblet of Fire queue, when we were cold and sleep-deprived. ♥

Tingeling was fascinated by the sun reflecting off the camera.

I bought these boots in Copenhagen, after weeks of rain, and now it's only been sunny. So there's no point in wearing them. :(

The outside wall of our house.

Probably the last time I'll do this this year! It was so cold my feet hurt.

Cat, again.

We found the recipe for this garlic bread in a newspaper. Can you say foodgasm? *_* My mouth is watering just thinking about it now.

I might have to hiatus again, but I'll see how I manage. Just at ?skip=90 so I'm okay for now.

I have so much to do that I'm having trouble starting, so I futz around on LJ and the internet and don't actually do anything useful, like, say, replying to people. Once my EE is handed in on the 31st, and SANMUN is done on the 4th & 5th of November, I'll get more things out of the way and be able to relax at B [info]thieving_gypsy's with Caroline [info]leka_moya at the end of November. :D!

"They're all living legends. I just feel like Madonna." - Prof. Eckard Wimmer
Look, shiny! That's the website for the TBA comic project I'm doing with Laura [info]voided_space, eee. :D

I finally got to go over my Extended Essay with Margret yesterday, which was a massive relief. Near the end of the meeting she was talking about how good it was, and I protested, and she looked surprised.

Me: ...but when you say my introduction is good, and that's about it--
Margret: Oh, Linn. You know what sort of person I am!

So that, and all of your helpful & lovely comments, made me realise it'll be okay. ♥

Today a group of people from school went to a day-long seminar at the University of Oslo on viruses. Biology is not exactly my best subject, and I did have some trouble following occasionally, but a lot of it was (surprisingly) really interesting. Especially the last speaker, Lynn Margulis (an American professor), was funny and engaging and made it interesting, even though she had to rush through the end because we were out of time.

And the way the French professor pronounced amoeba (aah-mee-beeeeah in a squeaky French accent) had us in gigglefits, oh dear.

Join this here fine crew for original artwork, unless ya care to feel the cold steel of my hook hand up yer arse, matey.

Also! I forgot to mention that we all ordered our russ clothes last week. *rocks* Our last exam is on the 16th of May, so we have about 12 hours to do knots and over 24 to be proper russ. We'll probably be drunk starting Wednesday afternoon until Sunday.

...I just checked my planner to see which days of the week I was talking about, and on the 16th I've written "FREEDOM!!!" in huge letters. Below that, someone has added "und alkohol :D". XD XD XD

I'm so sorry for today's spam and violent mood swings. It's all the IB's fault.

And um, if anyone's curious, this is why I don't want to study English anymore.

Off hiatus!

I finished just about everything I was supposed to (including the two most important things; my EE clean draft and my research workbook for art). 8D So I'm going back to reading the f-list today, as well as beginning to answer my gigantic backlog of e-mails and comments. Ehehehe.

The only really lame thing I managed to do was a couple days ago, when I was running a bit late in the morning. Two minutes before I had to run for the bus, I was enjoying a glass of tea (like this only taller), when it slipped out of my hand and smashed onto my plate. Everything was covered in tea, I swear. I missed the bus, needless to say. XD

After school I plan to shower, have a nap, post the third page of Chthonic (!) and work on fanart. Tobias [info]treskonebb will just have to foof around on my laptop or something. My life is so exciting! Saturday is Frøydis [info]sommerfinger and Linn [info]tingvinger's housewarming party, and Sunday I have to write the first draft of my World Lit 1. \o/

How are you all doing? :x
